Trekking for Thomas – The Concert Series is a live music event benefiting the Global Foundation of Peroxisomal Disorders.
Thomas was diagnosed in 2014 with Zellweger Spectrum Disorder - a rare, genetic, autosomal recessive disorder. While symptoms can be minimized with medication and treatment, there is no cure.
Many of you have followed our journey and joined us over the years in raising funds for the Global Foundation of Peroxisomal Disorders. The mission of the GFPD is to fund and promote peroxisome disorder research and to assist families like ours and professionals through educational programs and support services related to Zellweger Spectrum Disorders. From the first Trekking for Thomas Kids Fun Run in 2016 until the COVID pandemic put our fundraising on halt, we have raised over $65,000 as a community for the GFPD to fund research for rare diseases like Thomas'.
It is hard to believe that Thomas is now almost 14 years old and finishing his last year of junior high school! This year, we are changing our fundraising platform from a Kids Fun Run to a Live Concert Event here in Lake Highlands. We hope you will join us for the inaugural T4T – The Concert Series to be held on May 15, 2022.
Supporting and funding the GFPD gives our family hope. Hope for a cure. Hope for the health of future generations. Hope provides the strength to fight. As Thomas says, he does this “to help other kids."
